Biz Member Message for Seven Springs Stables / Jeff Moore Clinic Information

April 2nd, 2008

Jeff Moore, an International (I) Dressage judge and FEI competitor, editor or the USDF’s Glossary of Terms, Technical Advisor for the American Vaulting Association, a member of the USDF Judges Council and Chairman of it’s Educational Materials Committee, USEF Dressage Judge and Sporthorse Breeding Judge.  Jeff gives national and international seminars for USDF, ASHA and the FEI.

Jeff is an enthusiastic instructor who gives 101% effort into every seminar and lesson, whether the audience or rider is novice or advanced.  His lectures are always very funny, always mentally and physically challenging, inspiring, enlightening, and most definitely quite out of the ordinary!  Jeff’s command of horse and rider biomechanics is nothing short of amazing and those who attend his lectures always come away with a new appreciation of how vital the understanding of the rider and horse’s biomechanics are the key to success!  (and did we mention….chuckling, in spite of  themselves?)

Please join others who will be spending two days in Southern Oregon, at the beautiful conference facility at Seven Springs Ranch, April 19th & 20th!  Jeff will be teaching his popular Biomechanics of the Horse at Seven Springs Stables and Training Center, located near Roseburg, in Glide.  The two day seminar will be presented as an educational event for riders of all disciplines and breeders of sport horses by the Colliding Rivers Chapter of the Oregon Dressage Society. Pre-registration for the two days is $65, and includes lunch!  ($75 at the door.)

Monday, April 21st will also include a riding clinic with Jeff, spaces for eight riders only!   For more information go to www.thesevensprings.net and or contact Jan Shipley, coordinator for registration information at 541-673-0258

Dressage for the Ages Seeks Sponsors, Volunteers

April 1st, 2008

The Dressage for the Ages show is full! This show is a fundraiser for Oregon Dressage Society’s High School Dressage Teams College Scholarships. The past two years the show has generated enough money to fund $4,500.00 in scholarships. This is a fun and exciting program and keeps growing each year. If you would be interested in sponsoring a class for $25.00, please drop me an email at the address posted below.

We are also looking for scribes and to fill a few other volunteer positions. Please contact me directly if you are able to scribe or if you would like to volunteer in any other capacity at this weekend’s show.

Thank you for any help you can give.

April President Column

April 1st, 2008

At this writing I am anxiously awaiting the April issue of USDF CONNECTION magazine to see the article written by Coleen Scott on ODS. I would like to thank the board members, Gaye McCabe, Joyce Stride, Corinne Stonier and Mary Cornelius for helping with the article and providing photographs. Also Tory Kelly and Janie Steinbock for sending copies of the ODS videos. After viewing the videos and interviewing our members Coleen said she wanted to come out and visit us.

We are still in need of a few key volunteers. Last month I asked for people to step forward to fill the positions of Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. If you are interested in either of these jobs and didn’t apply please contact myself or John Craven. We also need a person who is enjoys organizing to help with the education projects that Francy Haupt runs for ODS.

At the regional level we need candidates for the 8 Region VI delegates. The deadline is April 15 and that is when you must have your information into USDF so please contact me right away. You must be a participating member of USDF. It is a one year position and you must attend the Convention which is in Denver this year. I can’t express how interesting and valuable it has been to me personally to participate in the governance of the national organization.

Also for the region we need a volunteer to count votes for one of the regional elections. This job require a few hours in August. Basically you have to enter the votes of people who choose to vote by mail into the USDF website. It is a little bit tedious but a great way to fulfill your volunteer obligation without having to travel or attend meetings and it is a very important service to USDF.

My phone number is 541-318-7353. You don’t even have to look it up! JUST CALL ME!

Here we go again into the show season!  Good Luck. See you there.

Marsha
