ODS Championship Show This Weekend – Info and Volunteer Needs

September 10th, 2009

Dear ODS Members,

First of all, thank you to everyone who responded from our plea for volunteers a few days ago. The holes are getting smaller, and the major positions have all been covered! This show is going to be a blast – and filled with Oregon’s finest! Even if you are not able to volunteer, we encourage you to please come and watch – enjoy the scenery, meet up with friends and take in a bit of shopping in our vendor village!

Please remember – the cost of admission is simply a non-perishable food donation –OR- a suggested $5.00 cash contribution to the Oregon Food Bank. Siobhan Barker is coordinating this year’s effort. The immediate and ongoing food needs include nutritious, shelf-stable packaged foods such as canned vegetables, canned fruits, chili, macaroni and cheese, nonfat dry milk, peanut butter, pasta, oatmeal, nuts, and cooking oil. Please be generous!

We are now trying to fill these last open volunteer positions. Each of our volunteers will receive a nice thank you gift, and anyone who volunteers 4 hours or more will have their name entered into a drawing for a nice prize!

At this point, we encourage you to contact one of the following on their mobile phones as receiving e-mail is difficult while on the show grounds:

• Additionally, we need someone with a pickup to return the pop-up tents, awards and volunteer stuff to the ODS storage unit in Hillsboro. There are bins and bins and boxes of stuff that need to be returned so a full size pickup or big van is a must! This could be arranged to occur Sunday evening or Monday.

Thank you in advance for your help!

2009 Banquet Plans

September 8th, 2009

Dear ODS Members,

We’ve heard from several people interested in attending this year’s banquet … however, it is NOT this weekend.

In response to member suggestions, the ODS Board and Awards Committee decided to move the banquet to a different location and date, so it will not be held in conjunction with the Championship Show. At this time, we are obtaining price and availability quotes from several facilities, so please remain patient while our office gathers information before announcing a final location/date/time. The rescheduled banquet should be in mid-November, and should be held in conjunction with the ODS General Membership Meeting.

Thank you.
