College Program has been approved by ODS Board of Directors
Dear ODS Members,
ODS has given us approval to go ahead and create a College Program since we’ve had so many High School graduates wanting to continue to compete in the team atmosphere.
This is the current propose design:
- College students can compete at ODS recognized or ODS League Shows.
- We would designate shows as College competitions (similar to how we designate high school shows).
- I would recommend that the OSU Beavers’ show to be the kick off show in the fall and then again in the spring.
- We can finish the year by including a College Team Championship portion to the ODS League Championship/High School Team Championship Show (currently held in May).
- In the future, if this show gets too big we may break off the High School Championships and College Championships to another weekend.
- Students can represent their schools as individuals. If there are enough students from one college/university they could represent that specific school as a team. Otherwise, we will put riders together from different colleges/universities to form mixed teams. It will be up to the student/riders to approach their own colleges to get their clubs setup and to obtain approval to be recognized as representing their college at ODS League and USDF level shows. If the school is not open to this, students could still compete and represent their school, they just would not get the school’s recognition.
If you have any questions or other ideas please feel free to contact me.
