Owner of Abandoned Clackamas County Horses Sought

Law enforcement authorities in Oregon are seeking the owner of two apparently abandoned horses.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputy Clint Pierce said Portland General Electric utility company personnel discovered the chestnut mare and red chestnut gelding wandering utility company property near the Mount Hood National Forest on Nov. 24. Both are currently under rehabilitative care at a local horse rescue. (more…)

The ODS Office will be closed 11/25 – 12/6

Please take note – the ODS office will be CLOSED from November 25th through December 6th for the Thanksgiving Holiday and the annual USDF Convention in Florida.

Matthias Alexander Rath as Totilas Rider Reported to be Announced Tuesday

ANKUM, Germany, Nov. 28–Matthias Alexander Rath is widely reported to be the new rider of Totilas that will be announced on Tuesday by owner Performance Sales International. Dressage-news.com reported shortly after the sale of the KWPN stallion that the 26-year-old German was likely to be Totilas’s rider. (more…)

EquiChord synopsis of changes in the new 2010 USEF and USDF Dressage Tests

The new USEF/USDF tests are out, and we wanted to share some of the changes that are impacting the musical freestyle requirements, as well as revisit the ones that haven’t changed. In a nutshell, USEF First through Fourth levels now contain only three tests each. Below are the compulsory elements being introduced within each test. Remember, please refer to your respective association for copies of the official test sheets and requirements. The USEF carries the standard tests, while the USDF carries the Freestyle tests.

Canada’s 2010 ‘Spirit of Dressage’ Award has been Named

Dressage enthusiast Elizabeth Robinson has been named the recipient of Canada’s 2010 ‘Spirit of Dressage’ Award.

She received the award at the Toronto Canadian Dressage Owners and Riders Association (CADORA) Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet, held on November 20 in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Robinson of Gormley, Ontario, was recognized for her long-term volunteer efforts above and beyond the call of duty for Toronto CADORA and as Chef d’équipe of Canada’s Paralympic Para-Dressage Team.

Robinson’s journey as a volunteer has taken her all over the world, and it all began in 1986 when she first met Toni Thompson, who was at that time recruiting for the 1986 Dressage World Championships taking place at International Equestrian Sport Services, commonly called IESS, in Cedar Valley, Ontario.

Adelinde & Parzival Win Stockholm World Cup Qualifier in 1st Event Since WEG

STOCKHOLM, Nov. 28–Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival swept the Stockholm International Horse Show, easily winning the World Cup qualifier Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday in their first event since being disqualified from the World Equestrian Games two months ago and leading a Dutch sweep of the top three places.

The Umpqua Valley Chapter is very busy planning next years activities.

On February 13 will be our Hearts and Horse Fun Show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds River Arena.  We started our Monday night riding at 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.  at the Fairgrounds.  Our annual Christmas Party will be on December 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Shell Gray’s home.  Don’t forget to bring your Silent Auction items.  We will have our Ride a Test and Practice show on June 4th and 5th at Bobbi Harper’s.  If you have any questions about these upcoming events please contact Marilyn Ulicny, President of UVC of ODS 541-673-6485 or foxtrailu@charter.net
