The ODS Fall Festival is a weekend filled with Dressage Education for Oregon Dressage Society members and the public. This year, we are proud to be hosting Steffen Peters for a lecture on Saturday evening and a symposium style clinic on Sunday. In addition to Steffen Peters, ODS is incredibly lucky to have scheduled OSU Veterinarian Dr. Erica McKenzie for a lecture on Saturday morning and a Saturday afternoon workshop. ODS’s very own Mary Cornelius, a world-traveled professional equine photographer, will be presenting us an artistic display of photography, featuring her latest “Elder Horse Project” and possibly incorporating images from her recent shoots in Portugal.  There will be additional classroom seminars/workshops offered as well as the 2011 ODS General Membership Meeting and the 40^th ODS Anniversary Celebration Banquet Dinner featuring Steffen Peters and the 2011 ODS Special Awards Ceremony.

The classroom educational session information will be published soon – we are still gathering the final class descriptions and details from each instructor.

Fall is coming.  Our North Willamette Valley Chapter show managers and secretaries have been busy getting next years show information ready for the Omnibus Sept. 1^st dead line.  We discussed adding Western Dressage to our Summer Daze League Show class list.  This could be fun and exciting.  We will also offer our costume class again.

Our August show planning meeting was at Kathy Darneille’s home.  We had a good meeting and a good turn out.  We enjoyed Lasagna, salads and deserts on the patio.  We completed our business before it got dark.

We had a good time talking about what we have done in the last ten years and what was significant that we wanted to include in the 40^th Anniversary book.  I am looking forward to the 40^th meeting and banquet.

We opened nominations for officers for the 2011-2012 year.  Nominations will remain open until we vote at our meeting in October.  We hope new people will come forward and submit their names.  If you feel it is not time to step into a chapter leadership role, we decided to start a mentoring program.  So you can see what it is all about without the pressure.  So please contact me if you are interested in mentoring a chapter office. All current officers have agreed to run for re-election for next year.

We had some discussion about what events and activities we want to have next year.  Members have been pleased with what we have done this year.  Marla and I will draw up a schedule and submit it to the membership.

Remember our meetings are the 3 Monday of the month.  Please check the chapter’s website and watch your e mail for meeting information.

Plans are taking shape for the 13^th annual Northwest Horse Fair and Expo, scheduled a weekend later than previous years, on March 22 through 25, 2012 at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center in Albany, Oregon.
