We had a very nice turnout for the Chehalem Mountain Chapter Picnic and Elections Meeting on Aug 30. As usual, there was plenty of good food, and everyone had a good time catching up with friends we hadn’t seen over the past few months.
As a reminder, there are still more opportunities to reconnect with the chapter before we ring in 2011….a couple meetings, a riding clinic, the Honkin Huge Ribbon Show, and our famous CMC Christmas Party.
The election results are:
President: Sharon Knowlton
Vice-President: Patty Armstrong
Secretary: Suzi Ronning
Treasurer: Andrea Onstine
Activities and Awards Cooridnators: Janet Kraft, Heather McCafferty and Michelle Macmillan
Show Secretary: Sylvia Kantas
Volunteer Coordinator: Janis Worrell
HHR 2010 Show Manager: Lou Anne McKown
Bears Above the Ground 2011 Show Manager: TBD
We are returning to our regularly scheduled first Monday of the month meetings. Our next meeting is October 4 at 7pm. A reminder and information about the exact Newberg location will be sent to all CMC members in the next couple of weeks. For anyone wishing to join the chapter, please contact Sharon Knowlton at wredrider@hotmail.com, or contact one of the other officers, so we can get you on our mailing list.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY….…
CMC is bringing Julie Ronning to the area for a riding clinic October 16 and 17. The cost for a lesson with Julie is $45.
Julie began competing in Dressage and Combined Training as a child. After college, she worked full time for two years as David Blake’s assistant. David now works and trains with Steffen and Shannon Peters. For the past year, Julie has had the great opportunity to ride for Sabine Schut-Kery at El Campeon in Thousand Oaks. Along the way, she acquired a great deal of experience riding horses from age 3 to FEI, and has taught many riders on their own horses. She is excited about the opportunity to get acquainted and work with riders in her home state.
Please contact Sharon Knowlton by October 8th at 503-780-9398, or email at wredrider@hotmail.com, to select which day is best for you. The clinic will be held at Suzi Ronning’s, Thornhill Farm, in Newberg.  Auditors are also welcome.
If you have a young or new-to-you horse, you can use this as an opportunity to get your horse out to a new place, and have Julie work with you on ground, or beginning riding techniques.
We hope to see many of you at some of our CMC events.
