Eugene Anthony Dueber Jr. Lt. Col. Ret. USMC Naval Academy Class of 1940, of Manchester, WA, passed away Thursday afternoon April 26th 2012, surrounded by his family and friends.

Born on May 16, 1916, in Portland, Oregon, “Gene” always wanted to ride.  He grew up in the city during the depression and was never able to have a horse.  The yearning for a horse never disappeared.  (As we all know, it is in the blood.)  Gene married his Naval Academy sweetheart Dorothy in 1942.  Gene and Dorothy had 3 kids; son’s Eugene and Peter and one daughter Dorothy.  He has 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His daughter rode for a short period of time until she fell off in the black berries and broke her finger. One of his granddaughters rode until she went off to college.  (more…)

The Lower Puget Sound Dressage Chapter sponsored a Saddle Fitting Clinic with Dawn Anderson on 3/10/12 at Canterwood in Gig Harbor.  A Horsemanship Clinic is scheduled with Jerry Whitlow at Sawda Equestrian Center on April 28^th. The clinic will be free to youth and $10 for adults. Our first show will be held on May 6^th at Green Hills in Gig Harbor. Entries will be accepted starting March 30^th. On Saturday, February 4^th the Lower Puget Sound Chapter – ODS held an annual Awards Banquet and fundraising auction at the Inn at Gig Harbor. We had approximately 85 people, a DJ, Auctioneer, Silent and Live Auction and Dancing. Monies raised from our dessert auction will be given to a local animal rescue. On Saturday, February 12^th, our club will host a clinic with Jennifer Williams at Canterwood Riding Center in Gig Harbor. This clinic is open to members only. A Saddle Fitting Clinic with Dawn Anderson is scheduled for March 10th and a Horsemanship Clinic will be held with Jerry Whitlow in April.  Our first show will be held on May 6^th at Green Hills in Gig Harbor.
