Announcing 2012 High School Equestrian Athlete Grants

Lexington, KY – In 2012 the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will offer more than $20,000 in grant money to qualified students and high school equestrian clubs or teams across the nation through its High School Equestrian Athlete program.

 

To be eligible for a grant an applicant must be a current USEF High School Equestrian Athlete program participant and have successfully completed at least one year of the program. The applicant must also be a member of at least one USEF Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association. (See below for a list of affiliate organizations). A subcommittee of the National Affiliate Working Group will select one applicant from each Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association to receive a $1,000 grant to be used for academic or equestrian educational pursuits.

Dressage for the Ages is seeking sponsors – help fund ODS College Scholarships

Dear ODS Members,

 

The Dressage for the Ages Show is seeking sponsors.  The show will be held March 10 & 11 in Salem, Oregon at the Oregon State Fairgrounds.  Since 2006, over $10,000 in profit has been raised by this show and designated to fund college scholarships for ODS High School Dressage Team members.

 

The cost to sponsor a class is $25.00; we are also accepting on-site vendors, larger sponsorships, in-kind donations and/or direct contributions to the scholarship fund.

 

Please contact me directly if you are able to assist in sponsoring class(s) or if you have any questions about the ODS Youth Program.

League Championship Show Ride Times and Volunteers Needed

The ODS College Scholarship Deadline has been extended to 5/1

ATTENTION:  HIGH SCHOOL DRESSAGE SENIORS!

The ODS College Scholarship application deadline has been extended to May 1st.

If you are a graduating senior involved in the ODS High School Dressage program and will be attending college next year, you may apply for the ODS College Scholarship.

High School Dressage Team Coach is Among Those Leading Efforts to Assist a Family Who Lost Their Home and Father in a House Fire Last Weekend

The Oregon Dressage Society (ODS) Office received a report this past Monday that on the previous Saturday, the Inge family of Winston, OR lost their home in a fire. The Inge’s two teenage daughters are members of the Umpqua Valley Chapter – ODS as well as being registered on the Douglas County High School Dressage Team.  Tragically Devin Inge, the father of the girls, was found dead in the ruins of their home.

ODS member Cynthia “Cindy” Sanders, a riding instructor who is also the Douglas County High School Dressage Team Coach is among those leading an effort to support the family.

ODS High School Dressage Update

June 1st, 2010

The Spring Into Dressage Show, held on March 26th through 28th was declared as an ODS High School Team show, when five team members competed: Amanda Howell), Cora Linn, and Elizabeth Pate of Genesis/Clackamas County; Kaitlyn Steward of North Valley Dressage/Washington County; and Laura Ritacco of Classical Equestrian Team. Cora Linn was used as a swing rider, allowing each team to have three members.
Genesis Team members scored as follows: Amanda Howell 63.2% at Training 2; Elizabeth Pate 60.556% at First 1; Cora Linn 62.4% atTraining4.The team ended with a total average score of 62.5%.
The Classical Equestrian Team (CET) is an “umbrella” team hosted by Salem Academy Christian High School. CET is the first official high school team in the nation. CET allows any rider to be a member of their team if their school does not have a team. CET members scored as follows: Laura Ritacco 68.685% at I-1; Kaitlyn Steward 66.4% at Training 4; Cora Linn (acting as swing rider) 61.2% at Training 3, with a total average score of 65.43%.
Laura Ritacco was the first member in Oregon High School Dressage Team history to have competed at Intermediate 1. Laura and Falcor put in an excellent performance, cheered on by fellow team-
mates, her mother Carolyn, and instructor Kathy Casey.
The High School Team Championships (ODS League Show) will be held June 19th at the State Fairgrounds. To learn how to join or earn a letter in Dressage, visit www.oregondressagesociety.com. Because it is an ODS insured event ~ all participants (riders and auditors) – MUST BE A CURRENT ODS MEMBER.
