The ODS Office will be closed from Thursday, March 22^nd through Wednesday, April 3^rd.  Our office staff person will be representing ODS along with a few volunteers at the NW Horse Fair and Expo from March 23 – 25.   From March 26 – April 3 our office staff person will be on spring break with her family in Florida.

Up until the office closure, Corinne will do her best to respond to all requests, however, during the office closure, voicemails, e-mails and snail mail will not be answered nor processed.  Memberships, show approvals and requests for chapter event insurance sent in during this time will be backdated to the timestamp on the application or postmark on the envelope.

If you have an urgent situation during the office closure, please contact a member of the ODS Board of Directors – their contact information can be located in the ODS Roster, the ODS Omnibus and on our website here.

If you have an absolute emergency, such as an accident or injury at an ODS event, Corinne will be available by cell phone – please call in this circumstance only!!  Her cell number is listed on insurance information sent to your chapter/committee prior to the event and is available on the ODS website.

ODS Booth at the NW Horse Fair

ODS will be offering books, ODS logo apparel and ODS logo gifts within our vendor booth during this weekend’s 13^th annual Northwest Horse Fair and Expo.  The Northwest Horse Fair and Expo runs March 22 through 25, 2012 at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center in Albany, Oregon. The ODS vendor booth will be located in the main building and will be open from 10 AM – 7 PM on Friday, from 9 AM – 7 PM on Saturday and from 9 AM – 6 PM on Sunday.  We will close our booth daily during the featured dressage presentations.

ODS will be offering a limited quantity of the 40^TH anniversary hooded and crewneck sweatshirts and the ever popular ODS Ladies Fitted T-shirts as well as plenty of embroidered baseball caps, all new padded ODS Logo Stadium Seats, stainless steel coffee mugs and embroidered polo shirts.  This year’s selection of educational materials includes titles from Trafalgar Square Books such as 50 Five Minute Fixes to Improve Your Riding, 7 Deadly Sins of Dressage, Advanced Techniques of Dressage, Balance in Movement (2 DVDs), Beyond Horse Massage (Book or DVD), Dressage Unscrambled, Dressage with Kyra, Selecting the Dressage Horse, Tug of War and more.  A 20% ODS member discount will be applied to all books and DVDs for sale at the expo.  We will also be accepting membership renewals and contributions to the ODS Education Fund and be available to answer questions you may have about our programs.

Jan Ebeling at the World Cup

2012 Adequan/USDF Annual Convention Headed to New Orleans

            Lexington, KY (February 28, 2012) – The United States Dressage Federation (USDF) is pleased to announce that the 2012 Adequan/USDF Annual Convention will be held in New Orleans, LA, December 5 through December 8.  This year’s convention will feature an array of networking and educational opportunities and will culminate with USDF’s Salute Gala and Annual Awards Banquet, which highlights USDF’s top volunteers and competitors. Lexington, KY – In 2012 the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will offer more than $20,000 in grant money to qualified students and high school equestrian clubs or teams across the nation through its High School Equestrian Athlete program.

To be eligible for a grant an applicant must be a current USEF High School Equestrian Athlete program participant and have successfully completed at least one year of the program. The applicant must also be a member of at least one USEF Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association. (See below for a list of affiliate organizations). A subcommittee of the National Affiliate Working Group will select one applicant from each Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association to receive a $1,000 grant to be used for academic or equestrian educational pursuits.

The management of the ODS League Championship Show has made a prize list correction to reflect the correct opening date.  The Prize List has been updated to reflect this correction.  The updated Prize List has been posted on the ODS website here: http://www.oregondressage.com/2012_omnibus/2012-ODS-LeagueChampionshipShow.pdf

The ODS League Championship Show hosts Open and Championship Classes and is an ODS League Approved Show in Salem, OR on June 2 & 3, 2012.  Entries will now open on Saturday, April 21 and will close Saturday, May 19.

Membership is not required to ride in the open classes at this show, however, there are qualifying and membership requirements in order to enter Championship Classes.  Please see the prize list for complete details or contact the manager if you need help determining eligibility.  For the 2012 League Championship Show, the qualifying show year is May 1, 2011 through April 30, 2012 – there may still be time for you to qualify!

The Olympic Dream Program for Advanced Young Riders

The Dressage Foundation Young Rider Olympic Dream Program is ready to go for the eleventh year!

The concept of the program evolved as a result of former Olympian Michael Poulin’s wish to offer an opportunity for gifted Young Riders to enhance their understanding of dressage theory through a European tour. The program is both funded and administered by The Dressage Foundation. (more…)
