Time is Running OUT!

August 17th, 2010

Hi everyone. Time is running out to show your support for the 2010 ODS Championship Show. This show is ODS’s biggest money-maker, aside from member fees, and we need your support! Without the support of our members and business, we wouldn’t be able to provide the extras that our members rely on.

We will accept sponsorships until beginning of the show, however, if you want your name on awards for the classes you sponsor, you’ll want to get your sponsorship info in by August 21, 2010. If you’re going to sponsor championship classes, please email me with your intent (so I can get you name on the awards!).

Also, don’t miss out on our new sponsorships for this year: $5-$20 for individual members (excludes businesses).

You can go to: http://www.odschampionshipshow.com/2010-art/ODS_sponsor_vendor_ads2010-1.pdf for all the information.

Time is running out. Don’t miss your chance to show your support for our organization.

Sponsor the Glisan Street USDF/ODS Junior/Young Rider Team Dressage Competition August 13, 14 and 15, 2010

July 19th, 2010

The ODS Youth Committee is currently seeking sponsors for the 2010 Glisan Street USDF/ODS Junior/Young Rider Team Dressage Competition which will be held August 13, 14 and 15, 2010 at the DevonWood  Equestrian Centre.
The support of local merchants and private contributions will aid in the total success of this dressage horse show. This show is sponsored by the Oregon Dressage Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization. The dedication of the organizers has made it possible to experience incredible growth in the Junior Young Rider Program and we now have a Jr/YR Team Championship in each of the nine USDF Regions. This program is organized to improve horse knowledge and to teach good sportsmanship, cooperation with others and to strengthen and support life long skills and values. Proceeds from this show will be used to further Junior Young Rider Programs within Oregon. In order to keep costs low for our Junior and Young Riders, we ask for your support.

To sponsor a team, the cost is $50.

To sponsor a class, or to advertise in the show program (business card size), the cost is $25.00

JUNIOR OLYMPIANS FROM IDAHO!!! Fundraising for the NAJYRC

July 14th, 2010

JUNIOR OLYMPIANS FROM IDAHO!!!

We would like to introduce ourselves.  We are Courtney Dale and Sadie Lahey from Eagle, Idaho.  (Biographical notes are posted below).

Sadie Lahey has been selected from the Northwest Region (Region 6), and is the only Idahoan to represent the region at the Young Rider Competition in Lexington, Kentucky, at the end of July, 2010.   An international competition with riders from Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, South America and the United States, this competition  is the “Junior Olympics” of Dressage.   Many of our future Olympians come from this select group of national champions.

Courtney has declared her intent to compete for selection on this prestigious team, and with her many accomplishments in riding, we expect that she too will represent the region in 2011.

State interest in dressage has increased dramatically, and we are hopeful that 2011 will see a team composed of Idaho representatives on our Region 6 Team.

Dressage is the basis for all riding, and blends the skilled subtle movements of the rider with the athleticism of the horse.  Dressage has been called the ballet of equestrians.

Financial support is being sought to aide these young women in their “Quest for Kentucky”.  We feel they represent the very best of Idaho, and are pleased that they will have the opportunity to ride on the national stage in such a significant competition.

The following opportunities are available:

ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Sponsor: At the $500.00 and above level your name will appear on either a saddle pad or polo shirt (your choice)  that will be worn during the preliminary jog and in all warm up events on this international stage.

Super sponsor: At $1000.00 and above , a banner will be displayed by the girls stalls and at all events the girls participate in, giving you exposure not only throughout the state of Idaho, but in Oregon, Washington and Kentucky.  Your name will also be on the saddle pad or polo shirt.

All donations are appreciated!!!  We will write a letter of “Thanks” that will be published in the Idaho Statesman, listing all names of contributors, no matter how small.

Thank you so much for your interest!

Sadie Lahey and Courtney Dale

Please contact Kathryn L. McMullan [laheymk@cableone.net] if you are interested in supporting this venture!

Courtney

My name is Courtney Dale and I am 18 years old.  I am a graduate of the Medical Arts Charter High School and would like to pursue a career in Radiology. I reside in Eagle, Idaho and train with Ernst Herrmann at Once Upon A Horse.

My trusty steed, Fortune, a Danish Warmblood and I have been together a little over a year which is the length of time I have been seriously riding Dressage.

Some achievements include Awards in Dressage and Quadrille, Reserve Champion in  Eventing, Hunter/Jumper; Awarded the Mini Metal Class. Also, I rode with The Ehcapa Bareback Riders as Mini Princess.  Most recently, I was awarded a scholarship from USEF which enabled me to be selected to ride in the Sue Blinks Young Riders clinic in Gig Harbor.  Fortune was awarded the Danish Warmblood Breed Award for the year 2009. This year I declared my intent for the Junior Young Rider Program and I have really enjoyed my experience and meeting other young riders; next year I will continue in this program as well. Most importantly, I have a deep love for horses and a desire to become the best rider I can be and to honor my sport as well as respect my equine partner.

Sadie

Sadie Lahey

My name is Sadie Lahey and I’m sixteen years old.  I have been riding horses since I was four years old, and have been competing and showing since I was seven.  I have been training for nine years at Once Upon A Horse, in Eagle, Idaho, with Janet & Ernest Herrmann.

Last September, I won the Junior/Young Rider Region 6 Championship in Dressage for 2nd level.  In December, my KWPN horse Up To Date P (Uppa) was shipped from Holland.  We have been working together since then.  Under Ernie’s guidance and training, I have been able to achieve my long-time dream of being able to represent the Northwest Region and Idaho (Region 6), in the North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (Junior Olympics).  The NAJYRC is a very prestigious international competition, and is designed to groom young riders to represent their countries at the Olympics.  This is my ultimate goal.

Uppa and I have worked hard this 2010 show season to qualify for the competition, travelling many hours to the qualifying shows.  This would not have been possible if it were not for my parents, my trainer, and the Dales who have shared their trailer and travelling adventures with me.  I achieved my goal of qualifying and on July 21st, I will be flying to Lexington, Kentucky, to compete with Uppa in the NAJYRC as the only junior rider representative from the entire Northwest region and Idaho.

This is an expensive trip and your support, not only for me, but also for all of the other Junior and Young Riders who have the same dreams as we do, is greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!

Sadie, Uppa, and all of the Region 6 Juniors and Young riders

The Dressage Foundation is seeking contributions to the Sally Swift Memorial Fund

May 13th, 2010

Sally could relate to anyone, and despite her fame, breadth of knowledge and accomplishments, greeted all who journeyed down her path with warmth and humility. She never elevated herself above others, but opened her heart with acceptance and friendship. All who came to know Sally personally or through her work feel as though they have lost a dear friend. This sense of friendship is the enduring gift Sally Swift left for the many people who knew and loved her. Centered Riding is the enduring gift she left for the world.

Please join us in honoring Sally Swift with a gift to the Sally Swift Memorial Fund at The Dressage Foundation!

This fund will provide grants up to $1,000 to promote Centered Riding.

USDF GMOs wishing to host a Centered Riding clinic are eligible to apply for the grant each year, a minimum of one annual grant will be awarded beginning in 2010. Considering Sally’s history and support of Centered Riding, this is a lasting tribute to a wonderful lady!

Could you consider honoring Sally by making a contribution to this Fund?

It will be an enduring tribute to a woman who contributed so much to the equestrian world. Every gift is important, no matter how large or how small. All gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Donations can be mailed to the Foundation at the address below, please note in the memo line that the gift is for the Sally Swift fund.

You can also donate online (via PayPal) at our website, www.dressagefoundation.org. Please send me an email if you choose to make an online gift so that we can include your donation in the correct fund.

Thank you for considering a gift to this worthy fund!

Cordially yours,

The Fort Vancouver Dressage Show Sporthorse In Hand Classes

April 26th, 2010

Hey Sporthorse Competitors!

We need your help.  The Fort Vancouver Dressage Show would like to continue to offer Sporthorse  “in-hand” classes, just as we have been offering these classes for many years. You may have noticed that in the beginning these classes were just thrown in whenever and where ever we could find space in the day.  More recently, as class participation increased these classes were given an entire day and significantly more community status.

Now, for whatever reason, participation has dramatically decreased.   What that specifically means is that the ‘in hand’ class at risk for us to continue to offer them.

One of the main comments that we have received from you (as to why you haven’t shown) is that the closing date was too early and you weren’t sure how your colt/filly would look by show time.  Because of your feedback, the 2010 calendar extended the closing date for Sunday’s classes until one week before the show.  Post entries are being accepted with conditions until two days before the show.

We need your help, as only YOU, the Sporthorse competitor, can make a difference in the future of these classes.

Sign up for a class!  Pure and simple, we need your participation in order to justify continuing to hold this class.

If you are unable to participate by entering a class or two, then volunteer.  Finding people comfortable around young stock is not an easy job.  We are always in need of runners, scribes, scores and multiple gatekeeper.

Be a sponsor..find a sponsor…sponsor a class with a friend.  Class sponsorship is only $25 per class.

Please help us keep these classes going. Anything you can do will make a difference in keeping the Sporthorse ‘in-hand’ classes part of our show. Your help is needed NOW!

Thank you for your contribution!

Rose Newman
Show Manager Fort Vancouver Dressage Show
Opening date: April 12, 2010
Closing date: May 3, 2010 (for Fri/Sat classes); May 21, 2010 (for Sun classes)
entries postmarked after closing date accepted at double class fees only if ride times available and only until May 26.

Please help obtain sponsors for the upcoming ODS League Championship Show

April 15th, 2010
Claire Fronville Evans
81 Kingsgate Road
Lake Oswego, OR  97035
mobile: 503.459.6837

Dear ODS Members:

Greetings from the ODS League Championship Show Committee!  President Ed Miller has asked me to take on the duties of Sponsorship Chair for the 2010 League Show.  Many of us have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, but I look forward to greeting you personally during the upcoming year as our paths cross in ODS activities.

One of the President’s goals for this year’s League Show is to bring in sponsors from all areas of the Pacific Northwest.  As an ODS member, you can play a critical role in the success of the ODS League Show by representing our needs to potential sponsors in your area.  With that in mind, the forms available below are for your use as you approach sponsors and advertisers.

In making our case to potential sponsors, some of the points you might like to bear in mind include:

  • This year the ODS League Show will be held in Central Point, Oregon on May 22 and 23, and is anticipated to draw participants and spectators from up and down the Willamette Valley, northern California, southwestern Washington, as well as Central and Eastern Oregon.  That’s a lot of eyeballs from the Pacific Northwest to see products and services!
  • More than 350 riders qualify for the ODS League Show; this show draws a strong amateur crowd that is an eager market for horse nutritional products, stable management products, vet and grooming items, and tack for stable and dressage ring alike.
  • In 2009, there were 93 riders in the Championship classes – we anticipate topping 100 this year in the Championship classes, with as many in the Open Class division, too.
  • This is a show where people come for fun – both to ride and to watch friends and family – and its placement in southern Oregon opens up opportunities for a wide range of Pacific Northwesterners to come see dressage and learn about sponsoring companies and organizations.
  • ODS welcomes many kinds of sponsorship.  We offer five (5) affordable categories of sponsorship, as well as separate advertising opportunities.

Without your help and hard work, sponsorships won’t become a reality for the ODS League Show.  Please let me know if you need any further information to promote ODS to sponsors in your area.  Please note that the deadline for sponsorships is May 8.

Thank you very much in advance for helping to launch a successful sponsorship program for the ODS League Show!

Best wishes,

Claire
