Save the Date: 2012 USEF Paralympic Selection Trials and National Championship to be held in Gladstone, NJ

Lexington, KY - The 2012 USEF Paralympic Selection Trials and National Championship will take place June 11-13, 2012 at the USET Foundation Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ. Elite competition will be held in Grades 1a- IV, as para-equestrian athletes vie to represent the United States at the 2012 Paralympic Games and earn National Championship honors. Competitors will ride three different tests (Team, Individual and Freestyle) within their grade.

 

This championship will take place between the two weekends of the USEF Dressage Festival of Champions.

 

The U.S. Para-Equestrian Team is enjoying a banner year in 2012 having earned qualification for the 2012 Paralympic Games in January.

Young Horses and Riders Benefit from Successful Markel/USEF Young Horse Observation Sessions

Lexington, KY – The Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program wrapped up March with the second of two Observation Sessions held in 2012.  Taking place March 3-4 in Loxahatchee, FL, the first session ran prior to the Palm Beach Dressage Derby. The second session was held March 28-29 in San Juan Capistrano, CA, prior to the Festival of the Horse. These two-day Observation Sessions allow USEF Young Horse Dressage Coach Scott Hassler the opportunity to evaluate athlete/horse combinations as they work. He then discusses the horse’s status, training and goals for participation within the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program with the rider and/or owner. (more…)

USEF Names Riders for 2012 Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Final

Lexington, KY -  The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will be represented by two American dressage riders at the 2012 Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Final to be held in ‘S-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, April 18-22.

The United States will be represented by the top two riders from the North American League. The following horse/rider combinations qualified during World Cup Qualifying Events held throughout the 2011-2012 season:

Announcing 2012 High School Equestrian Athlete Grants

Lexington, KY – In 2012 the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will offer more than $20,000 in grant money to qualified students and high school equestrian clubs or teams across the nation through its High School Equestrian Athlete program.

 

To be eligible for a grant an applicant must be a current USEF High School Equestrian Athlete program participant and have successfully completed at least one year of the program. The applicant must also be a member of at least one USEF Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association. (See below for a list of affiliate organizations). A subcommittee of the National Affiliate Working Group will select one applicant from each Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association to receive a $1,000 grant to be used for academic or equestrian educational pursuits.

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will be accepting letters of intent to host the 2013 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions.

The USEF Dressage Festival of Champions will be held on the West Coast of the United States in 2013. The proposed dates are either October 19-20 or October 12-13 and the competition will offer six Divisions: Grand Prix, Intermediaire I, Young Adult “Brentina” Cup, Young Rider, Junior Rider and Pony Riders.

International Judges Prepare to Attend FEI Para-Equestrian Dressage Judge Course in Del Mar, California

 

Del Mar, CA – February 10, 2012- Running concurrently with the 2012 Rancho Valencia Dressage Affaire CPEDI3* will be the F.E.I. /USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage Judge Course. With the course less than a month away six distinguished judges within the equestrian community are preparing to travel to the Del Mar Horse Park March 8-11, 2012 in Del Mar, CA. The course, directed by Hanneke Gerritsen (NED) and assisted by Sue Curry Shaffer (USA), will be a refresher seminar for Para-Equestrian Dressage Judges in addition to giving “S” Dressage judges the opportunity for promotion to F.E.I. 3* para-dressage and F.E.I. 3* para-dressage judges the opportunity for promotion to 4*.  This course will give potential and future Para-Equestrian competitions more choices of experienced F.E.I 3* and 4* judges around the world and particularly in the United States. USEF & Jeremy Steinberg Introduce personalized online video training program

The U.S. Equestrian Federation and Jeremy Steinberg, the National Dressage Youth Coach, have introduced a new personalized online video training program for America’s youth riders.

United States Takes Early Lead in Team Competition at 2012 Wellington Classic Sunshine Challenge CPEDI3*

Wellington, FL –  Week two at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center began for Para-Equestrian Dressage riders Thursday, January 26, at the 2012 Wellington Classic Sunshine Challenge CPEDI3. Canada and the United States of America went head to head in the team competition resulting in an early lead for the United States. With top scores reaching the 70% mark, the United States showcased their determination and progression over the past year. In addition to the U.S.A. and Canada, other countries represented were Bermuda, Finland, Ireland, Japan, and Mexico making up a total of 29 horse and rider combinations to display their top Team Tests. Five Americans Headline World Dressage Masters Palm Beach

Lexington, KY – The dressage world descends upon the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, FL for the 2012 World Dressage Masters Palm Beach presented by International Polo Club Palm Beach. Fifteen riders from six countries have accepted invitations to compete at the prestigious event which runs January 26-28 at the CDI5* level.

The U.S. effort is led by last year’s defending champion Steffen Peters (San Diego, CA) who returns to the venue in which he swept to victory last year on Akiko Yamazaki and Four Winds Farm Ravel. Ravel, now 14, first represented the U.S. at the 2008 Olympic Games, and has gone from strength to strength since that trip. Peters was also the double-Gold medalist in October at the 2011 Pan American Games with Weltino’s Magic.
